Volunteer Roles

Our league is entirely volunteer-run, including the coordinators - without volunteers, we simply couldn't hold meets.

In order to participate in our summer swim league, a family member (15 or older) is required to fill two shifts during the swim season. Families with 6-under swimmers only are exempt from volunteer roles, but required to donate 2 cases of bottled water during the first week of practice.

*Opting out of volunteering will cost $100 per family.

Home Meets

Meet Announcer/Starter (1)

The announcer will begin each event by announcing the age category, gender, and stroke. They will say, "Swimmers, take your mark," before pressing the electronic start button to signal the beginning of the race. Additionally, the announcer will serve as the sole judge for any false starts that occur during the meet.

Concessions (6)

Finish Judge (1)

Responsible for recording a finish on the finish sheet: the first, second, third, and fourth place swimmers in each race.

Grill Master (2)

The grill master will cook burgers and hot dogs for the concession stand.

Lane Timer (4)

Records swimmer times during the meet. Each timer is provided with a stopwatch and assigned a lane. There are two timers per lane. One timer will work the stopwatch, the other will record times. This job gives you a good view of the pool and swimmers during the meet..

"No Parking Signs" (1)

The "No Parking" signs must be staked into the ground along the south side of Brookmill Court and the west side of Springmill Blvd.. Signs should be posted no later than 3:30 p.m. on days when home meets occur.

Order of Events Sign (1)

The Order of Events sign displaying the event and heat during the meet must be updated after each heat. This is accomplished by following the heat sheet and coordinating with the announcer.

Ribbons Distribution (1)

After each heat, present swimmers with the appropriate ribbon for their finishing position in the race.

Host / Floater (1)

You will host the meet by making sure everyone has everything they need. You will provide water to coaches and volunteer workers. You will also relieve any worker if they need a break to use the restroom.

Runner (2)

During home meets, runners will be responsible for collecting papers from each lane timer, finish judges, and stroke judges. These papers must then be taken to the input table by the guard room to be entered into Swimtopia for meet records.

Data Entry (1)

Meet Tear Down (1)

They will observe the swimmers' stroke techniques, turns, and finishes. Additionally, the stroke judge will complete disqualification (DQ) sheets for any swimmers who do not adhere to the legal swim strokes. Note: Attending a stroke judge class is mandatory before working in this position during a meet.
